Meghan Benn
Provisional psychologist
BA(Psych/PolSci) BA(Hons-Psych) MAAPI, Assoc MAPS, Assoc EMDRAAMeg is a Provisionally Registered Psychologist working across the lifespan, supporting kids, teens and adults from all walks of life.
Meg has an Extended Major in Psychology with First Class Honours from The University of Queensland (UQ), and is currently undertaking supervised training (called the ‘4+2 Pathway’) to become a registered psychologist. Meg holds a membership with the Australian Association of Psychologists Incorporated (AAPI) and is an associate member with both the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and with the Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Association of Australia (EMDRAA).
Meg is passionate about walking alongside people to help them navigate and make sense of what’s going on within them – in their ‘internal world’. She approaches every setting with gentleness, curiosity and compassion, and uses an integrative approach with her clients to find what works for them to empower them to better understand themselves and their needs, and to honour those needs and live more authentically. Meg enjoys working with people across the lifespan, and has a special interest in women’s mental health; helping women experiencing the effects of trauma, anxiety and stress, and issues related to spirituality or religion.
In her practice, Meg integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness, and is particularly keen on drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Focusing and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Meg is currently undergoing training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and has completed her first level of training.
On a personal note, Meg enjoys tending to her (one too many!) plants, the smell of the earth after rain, walking barefoot along the beach and a good cup of tea (‘Melbourne Breakfast’ tea is her favourite!).
Meg is friendly and down-to-earth, and is happy to take inquiries through reception prior to starting therapy.
Please note that while a referral from a GP is preferred, clients will not be able to access Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for their appointments because Meg is a provisionally registered psychologist. However, to ensure appointments remain accessible, the fee structure has been adjusted.
