Completion of level 1 & 2 and some experience in using Gottman method in clinical practice is preferred. See below*

Cost: $1200.00

What will I learn in Level 3?

This workshop's aim is for deepening, correcting and widening your skills in relationship counselling. It is the next step towards achieving certification as a Gottman Couples Therapist if this is your goal.

This is a small group supervision process. As such, each therapist will experience supervision on the issues pertaining to their own cases, for example the challenges of couples with comorbidities, mismatches in engagement or emotional expression, resistance to therapy process etc... To facilitate this, each participant will be invited to upload videos of their sessions to enable high fidelity role simulation and feedback. Further information about this process will be forwarded on registration.

At the conclusion of the workshop we aim for these outcomes

You will master the use of the Oral History Interview during a couple’s assessment and understand its implications.

You will practice clear explanations to a couple of their strengths and challenges in terms of the Sound Relationship House, and helping partners in identifying their own “Four Horsemen” and applying the antidotes.

You will improve your selection and utilization of the appropriate tools to help a couple deepen their Friendship System.

Along with all of the above, you will learn how to clarify a couple’s conflicts in terms of solvable, perpetual, and grid-locked problems, and use the “Dreams Within Conflict” technique more effectively to help a couple feel hopeful and to achieve break-through with their perpetual conflict.

Successful intervention when one or both partners are flooding will follow, helping a couple to reach solutions using the Compromise Ovals intervention.

Finally, you will consider and practice sensitively intervening when co-morbidities are present.

Who is this training for?

*This training is for psychologists, social workers, Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), professional counselors, addiction counselors, and other mental health professionals. Completion of Level 1 Training and Level 2 Training is required, as well as one of the following;
