- GP Counsellors: $110 to $250
- Psychologists: $195 to $220
- Counsellors: $80 to $140
- Counselling students: Free
Payment can be made in cash or via EFTPOS. Diners Club and American Express cards are not accepted.
Mental Health Care Plans & Medicare rebates
Mental Health Care Plans are issued by General Practitioners (GPs) and allow Medicare rebates for a defined number of sessions per calendar year.
These plans are available for sessions with Psychologists. Medicare rebates are not available for sessions with Counsellors.
Getting a Mental Health Care Plan
Make an appointment with your GP (half an hour is recommended) and ask to be assessed for a Mental Health Care Plan. Once this is registered with Medicare you will be able to access 6 sessions with a Psychologist to obtain a rebate from Medicare. You may also have a further 4 sessions after a review, making a maximum of 10 rebatable sessions in each calendar year.
Bulk-billing
Bulk-billing is not standard practice, but is at the discretion of the practitioner.
