  • Beyond Blue
    Provides information on a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, suicide and self-harm, substance use, and grief and loss. Also offers a support resources including a telephone service and online chat.
  • Black Dog Institute
    Provides information on depression, anxiety, bipolar, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide and self-harm, as well as support resources.
  • GROW mental health support groups
    Offers free weekly meetings for people experiencing a range of mental health issues (including depression and anxiety). The groups offer a supportive environment for members to develop self-confidence and skills to improve their lives.
  • MoodGYM training program
    Learn cognitive behaviour therapy skills for preventing and coping with depression.
  • Mental health and wellbeing
    Qld Government listing of mental health information and services.
  • Mental Health Social Support
    Offers help and training to individuals who seek to support friends or family members with developing mental health concerns.

Eating disorders

  • The Butterfly Foundation
    Provides support and information to those affected by eating disorders and negative body image and to their carers. Includes a telephone support service.
  • Eating Issues Centre
    Provides information and referral, free counselling, therapeutic groups, and peer support for people with eating issues throughout Queensland.
  • Surviving anorexia
    An honest and helpful blog written by the mother of a teenage girl who suffers from anorexia.

  • Raising children
    Provides lots of useful parenting information from raising newborns to teens, including mental health topics (depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc.)
  • Parentline
    Offers helpful articles on parenting as well as a telephone counselling service for parents. Call 1300 30 1300, from 8am to 10pm.
  • Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
    Free parenting program to all Queensland parents and carers of children up to 16 years of age.
  • Parenting Coach
    Offers practical, hands-on help for parents as they raise their children.
  • Mum Daily
    Information for all involved in parenting and caring for children and families. Lots of great tips and blogs.
  • Parent Connect
    Provides support to parents of children with a disability or who are developmentally delayed (0-6yrs) or older children (over 6 yrs) with a newly acquired or an identified disability.
